Carbon X Prize
By Elizabeth Newbern
Excess emission of Carbon Dioxide causes detrimental damage to the environment, it causes global warming which results to melting ice caps. These changes are wreaking havoc amongst the environment. The X Prize Foundation is holding a competition for people to invent ways to create products that are made from or uses CO2. The winning team must create a product that utilizes the most CO2 and help reduce excess CO2 emission without further harming the environment. The prize for this contest consists of $10 million dollars. The X Prize Foundation seeks for innovators and strive for a more sustainable future.
CO2 is one the most damaging problems humans cause. Due to the gas's tendency to trap heat, the atmosphere is warming up as CO2 accumulates in the air; which is causing a greenhouse effect or global warming. Global warming drastically alters various species' habitats and will cause a big evolutionary jump as species race o adapt to the ever changing climate of the Earth. The X Prize Foundation helps not only to challenge people as innovators, but also strive for a life f sustainable Earth. People take many things for granted, and later figure out how important that object is; with the help of the competition, people are steering the right way to a future of sustainability.
