Chemicals in the Home
Summary:
The amount of chemicals that surround me everywhere is surprising to say the least. However, it's hard to believe that we are unaware of the toxins present in our own homes. That a product has countless, harmful chemicals that has their own different types of harmful effects. People are so ignorant to the things going around them, that they introduce and even invite the killer and the sickness in their very home. It is the false assumption that everything we, the consumers, buy is safe for the individual. The lack of regulation for these chemicals is surprising, specially because it concerns the health of the nation as a whole. These chemical's effects ranges from neurological defects to cancer; both of which are serious and could be fatal. The fact that these chemicals are affecting children, specially the newborns, is horrifying. It is surprising that the government have not allowed more laws against harmful chemicals to be sold in the market, or at least provide information to the public to allow them to be aware of the dangers of these chemicals. Personally, now that I have been so accustomed to the products that I have used daily, knowing that it hasn't necessarily done anything to me drastically makes it seem to be less of a problem. However I know that these chemicals take time and eventually get through generations and ultimately affect more people that just the person that consumes the product.
